Ice Wine Slushie – Mmmm Good!

Another tour today. Seven folks from Holland, Australia, England and Russia. Quite the group. We had a lot of fun. Weather was supposed to be rainy, but turned out sunny and mostly bright all day. So much for the weather reports.

As usual, we made a stop at one of the wineries so the group could have a taste of ice wine. None had even heard of it. So today we stopped at the Ice House Winery where they only make ice wine. Really nice place in Queenston, on the way to Niagara-on-the-Lake, a must see stop on my Niagara tours.

Anyway, they are serving slushie ice-wine. Something really different. You can’t buy it, but you can taste it at the Ice House. I tried a bit and man, was it refreshing. It was just plain good!

So, next time you are heading for Niagara-on-the-Lake, be sure to stop by the Ice House Winery and try some ice wine, and while there take a taste of their ice wine slushie. It’ll make you want to buy a slushie machine for home.

Dangerous Combination: Bachelorettes & Wine

Maleta Winery in Niagara Ontario Canada Yesterday drove 11 (or was it 13) young women from Toronto to a couple of wineries in Niagara. They were having a bachelorette party for one lucky lady who is getting married.

The Maleta Winery and the Ravine Vineyard. Both a smaller, but very popular wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

They spent an hour at each. Enough time to enjoy several tastes of excellent Niagara wines. Then after a beautiful drive along the Niagara Parkway back to their hotel, the Days Inn, in Niagara Falls, they headed for their room to get ready for a great dinner in Niagara.

Yes Virginia, being a tour guide/tour driver in Niagara Falls is interesting, always different and always lots of fun.

Shuttle Down To NOTL

If you live in or near Toronto, there’s a new way to travel to Niagara-on-the-Lake. It’s on the GO.

A shuttle service to the Shaw Festival is moving full-steam ahead. Travellers can catch the shuttle from their GO train stop at the St. Catharines Rail Station or GO bus stop at the Fairview Mall in St. Catharines.

The downside is that this service only operates until until Oct. 12, but it is daily. The shuttle will cost $10 for a one-way trip in addition to the GO fare, which is $16.90 from Toronto.

“With a defined number of pick-ups and pre-booked ticketing services, we will be able to offer a seamless service with confidence.”
