The Niagara Falls Bridge Commission has begun providing real-time traffic updates through Twitter.com. Like their toll-free telephone number, the twitter account informs travelers using the international bridges at Queenstong-Lewiston and Niagara Falls of the shortest crossing times. You can follow the Commission at www.twitter.com/NiagaraBridges.
www.twitter.com/NiagaraBridges provides updates every hour or less, depending on traffic reports. Updates are generated only when backups occur.
Traffic updates on Twitter have been tested since Memorial Day weekend. The Bridge Commission estimated 10,000 vehicles crossed over from the U.S. into Canada on the Whirlpool, Rainbow and Lewiston-Queenston Bridges on July 1st. In addition to Twitter and its Web site, the Bridge Commission has a toll-free number that provides hourly traffic conditions on the three commission-managed bridges, plus the Peace Bridge at Buffalo (1-800-715-6722, press 2 for car traffic info).
